Bushy Hill Youth Club

Bushy Hill Youth Club runs every Thursday night from 7.15 - 9.00 for ages 14 - 17 at the Bushy Hill Community Centre, Bushy Hill Drive, Guildford. It's an open youth club where young people are free to come and go as they please. We provide a PS3, Wii, pool table, and music, and also have use of the MUGA court located on the field outside the building, and every now and then we also host events such as film nights etc. The club is free of charge - all you need to do is fill in the Signing In sheet with your name and date of birth.

Wedding Day

Fancy a dry run at marriage?

Each year we do work with school groups around relationships and Christian marriage. A typical day would start with workshops on relationships, the value of marriage in the modern day and a look through the traditional Christian wedding vows. The day then finishes with a full mock wedding!!

The mock wedding itself is a chance for students to look creatively and seriously at a wedding service and act it out. The students all contribute £5, which covers a wedding breakfast buffet. The rest of the elements of the wedding however, like dresses and flowers, are arranged by the students for free, or loaned by local shops - for example, last year the bridesmaids haggled the loan of dresses from a local (and quite expensive!) boutique. Even the boys scrub up well in tails and cravats!

The whole service, while following the traditional Christian format, is punctuated with splashes of creativity including songs, poems and readings. After this, we retire to the reception for photos, speeches and a wedding buffet.

One to One Student Mentoring

In the ongoing quest to support students and schools we offer one on one support to individual students during the school day. This works in partnership with our existing schools and youth team and is a chance to offer more intensive support to those who need it.

Allotment Project

This is a new way that Matrix is seeking to support and engage with different young people through running a supported allotment project. This is a great opportunity for young people to not only learn some useful skills but also have the enjoyment and sense of acheivment of managing a proper allotment - and of course enjoying what they will grow!
