Schools Workers are highly valued members of a school team serving as an 'adult friend' to students. While they are not counsellors much of their time is spent as a 'listening ear' in one to one meetings. In addition, they also lead school groups, organise trips, sporting and charity events and help with lessons

A day in the life of a Therfield Youth Worker
Therfield is a secondary school and sixth form college based in Leatherhead,Surrey. It has over 1000 students and has a specialist inclusion centre that works with students with behavioural problems. We are in school every Wednesday and Friday, and work with approximately 30 students on an ongoing basis, looking at issues that either effect them at school or at home.
We normally work on a one-to-one basis, however we also do group work within the school. We also run drop-ins at lunchtime that aim to give every student the opportunity to access the service.
