Ian Nicholson - Executive Director of The Matrix Trust

Ian Nicholson has been based in the Guildford area for many years, moving south from Leeds when he was 11. Ian studied at the local Grammar School before going to University in Leeds and living in Vienna for several years

Ian was in a past life a Bible smuggler, TV salesman and youth worker – helping initiate The Warehouse Project and Network. Ian is passionate about townwide church unity, mission, new expressions of church and releasing younger people to dream and initiate. Having been in senior church leadership for many years Ian initiated and directs the Trust and also travels extensively speaking and overseeing the European and mission development of the 24-7 Prayer movement.

Ian is married to Jackie, a local nurse, and they have three children Ross, Lindsay and Anna. Crazy about sport he watches soccer, rugby and cricket from the safety of his armchair and has an unhealthy preoccupation with Woking Football Club, being appointed the Club Chaplain in 2008. Ian has a BA in Sociology and Geography which has been really useful for Trivial Pursuit.

Dave Slinn - Deputy Director

Dave has been involved in full-time ministry for the last 15 years. He has worked at a number of churches across the country doing detached youth work, church youth groups and outdoor pursuits. He also jointly wrote ‘xposure’ (a course helping young people explore the beginnings of their faith) and he was involved in working with OSBD (One Small Barking Dog) in developing visual and video resources. He has also been a Youth Pastor and starting a new charity called Network Youth in Southend on Sea.

Dave’s developing role at the Matrix Trust includes overseeing a growing team of schools workers in West Surrey, engaging with local youth organisations, encouraging cooperation between youth workers and overseeing a number of community initiatives.

He is married to Liz, drives a Land Rover and has no pets or children of his own!

John Evans - Office Manager

John joined the Matrix Trust team in May 2006, bringing with him a wealth of experience from years of working in both the Business and Charitable sectors. John oversees finance, liaises with Trustees and, in many ways, holds the base together. It is usually John you will speak to when you first contact our office.

John is married to Linda and they have three grown up children. They have been very involved in the life of Emmanuel Church, Stoughton for many years. John is an avid supporter of all forms of sport and in particular he is fanatical about Bristol City. His ambition is to sit down one day and register to do a law degree by correspondence.
